Stockton House School

A nature and nurture approach to active learning

Muddy Acorns (Forest School)

Muddy Acorns Forest School is based in the grounds of Stockton House School within a separate dedicated area of ancient oak woodland.

Muddy Acorns centres learning around nature which, in turn, helps develop the relationship between your child and the natural world, promoting the holistic development of all participants (both big and small!) as well as fostering resilience, confidence, independence and creativity through a variety of outdoor skills and experiences.

At Muddy Acorns, we will encourage your child to grow into an independent learner and forge a special connection with nature through exploring and experiencing the woodland and the flora and fauna we find, making new friendships, growing plants, getting muddy and most importantly: having lots of fun!

Sessions are run weekly as small groups during term time in seasons and in all weathers for children aged 3 – 4 years. Activities during a Muddy Acorns session will include but are not limited to the following:

  • den building
  • tree climbing
  • cooking on an open fire
  • creating natural art
  • using tools
  • playing team games
  • bug hunting
  • sensory activities and
  • caring for our woodland.

Each session will be tailored differently depending on the weather, season and available resources but will also ensure that each child is able to explore their own interests, try out their own ideas and embrace new ones.

Look at the fun we have....
